Rakaposhi & Diran Peak Basecamp Trek
The journey begins with one of the Karakoram's most iconic approaches — the trail to the Rakaposhi and Diran Peak basecamp. Rising to over 7,788 metres, Rakaposhi is among the most visually dominant mountains in Pakistan, its vast snow pyramid visible for hundreds of kilometres in every direction. The ascent to basecamp weaves through pine forest, alpine meadow, and moraine terrain, each hour revealing closer, more overwhelming views of the mountain's southern face. Diran Peak, its slightly smaller neighbour, adds another dimension of drama to a landscape that rewards those willing to look up.
Golden Peak Basecamp Trek
From Nagar, we push deeper into the Karakoram toward the basecamp of Spantik — known locally as Golden Peak — a stunning 7,027-metre pyramid of ice and rock that earned its name from the golden glow it radiates at sunset. The approach to its basecamp is a journey of progressive revelation: winding river valleys give way to open moraines, and the peak itself emerges dramatically above a glacier-carved landscape. This is among the region's finest high-altitude walks, combining genuine Karakoram wilderness with the quiet thrill of standing at the base of a serious expedition mountain.
Hoper Glacier & Michar Kho Valley
The final chapters of the journey take you into two of Nagar's most treasured natural wonders. Hoper Glacier — one of the most accessible and visually striking glaciers in the Karakoram — is a vast river of ice that flows dramatically between towering valley walls. Walking its moraine-edged margin is an experience of raw, ancient scale. From here, the route ventures into the serene sanctuary of Michar Kho Valley, a hidden side valley of wildflower meadows, glacial streams, and towering rock walls where silence is absolute and the mountains feel impossibly close. These final days are an ode to pure wilderness — unhurried, uncrowded, and unforgettable.
